This week’s restaurant pick
Where the seasons set the menu
I’ve been hearing murmurs about 101 Restaurant on the old trading estate in Bridport since it opened last year and a couple weeks ago I finally made a spontaneous visit. You can have a glass of wine outside or pop into Selected Grapes wine shop and bar next door whilst you are waiting for your table. That is exactly what we did… and had a couple of bottles after dinner too!
The menu is refreshingly seasonal and simple and cooked by Connie Booth whilst her sister Jess does front of house. It reminded me a lot of the Eagle in Farringdon when it first opened, and David Eyre was cooking. We ate beetroot soup, a simple tomato salad with peaches, cured ham and melon followed by roast chicken with seasonal greens. More restaurants should take note of the simplicity. All 18-20 seats were full and ready for the second sitting.
Check it out!
